In the summer of 2025 Orkney was buzzing with excitement as the host of the Island games. As well as all the sports, the streets of Stromness were filled with artwork to celebrate the event and show off the islands creativity to all the visiting athletes and spectators.

As part of the Stromness Street Gallery, featuring the work of Orkney artists in the windows throughout the town, Móti Collective was commissioned by Orkney Islands Council to hold an exhibition on the theme of ‘Games’ at Northlight Gallery.

The exhibition featured work from nine members of the collective, each interpreting the theme in a unique way, including through painting, embroidery, photography, sculpture and playable games.

The visual art was accompanied by Island Soonds, an inventive and playful sound piece by Orcadian composer Brian Cromarty, commissioned by Orkney Islands Council. Members of the public also had the opportunity to contribute to the exhibition through playing the surrealist art game ‘The Exquisite Corpse’.
