Starlings Remembering Together 2025
Starlings is a short collaborative film that listens to the chattering of young creative voices. Weaving a kaleidoscope of sounds while remembering the everyday rhythms experienced in their landscape.
Communicated through printmaking and experimental film techniques Starlings brings the Connect Group, P5 pupils from Glaitness and Papdale Primary schools together. Sisters-in-laws Louise Barrington and Megumi Uenoyama-Barrington supported the groups within creative sessions. Nourishing their unique expression through mark-making further developing their creative voice.
Participants engaged with sensory aspects of the landscape through sound, touch, taste, sight and scent, and considered how the landscape has shaped them. Remembering macro and micro elements of the surrounding landscape through the process of material engagement. Starlings celebrates the dynamic energy expressed by Orkney’s future creative community with colourful patterns and lyrical song.
This screening is FREE and no booking is required - just turn up on the night! Doors will open at 6pm, and the film will start at approx. 6:20pm. Artwork created by the young people during the project will be on display in the corridor outside the Phoenix Cinema, from Monday 12 - Friday 16 May.
