Frances Scott
Frances Scott (b. 1991) is a photographic artist and educator based in Orkney. Working largely in medium format black and white film, her work examines themes of memory, place, and belonging, often centred around journeys made through landscapes of personal significance. Her ongoing series Undertow is a long–term project to walk, photograph and map the coastlines of Orkney. This body of work has been exhibited widely across Scotland, and was published as a limited edition photobook by Another Place Press in 2020.
Frances studied Communication Design at Glasgow School of Art, specialising in Photography. She also has a postgraduate qualification in Higher Education Learning and Teaching in the Creative Disciplines. She is a founding member of Móti Collective, and a co–creator of Holm Sound, an online talk series originating from the island of Papay. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
